Spaghetti Tour with Liskamm Traverse
The “Spaghetti Tour” is a demanding high-alpine tour in the Valais linking several summits in the Monte Rosa massif. The name comes from the shape of the route, which winds through the alpine terrain like a strand of spaghetti. The tour leads across glaciers, firn fields and steep steps and demands high technical skills and good fitness from participants. The reward is breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and the unique alpine panorama.
Itinerary
- Day 1
We meet in Zermatt. From there the gondola takes us to the Klein Matterhorn, where we start with the Breithorn and Roccia Nera. At the Ayas hut we discuss the plan for the next day.
- Day 2
An exciting day awaits us. Early in the morning we set off for Pollux, where we meet the first rock climbing sections. Then we traverse Castor and descend to the Quintino Sella hut.
- Day 3
A magnificent day awaits us today: the Liskamm traverse is on the programme. The guidebook says: “Like walking on a knife's edge.” The ridge is sharp, long and demanding, but also breathtakingly beautiful.
- Day 4
Depending on how we feel and our fitness, today we have the chance to climb up to ten 4000 m summits. The tour would start at Punta Gordani and stretch to the Nordend and the Monte Rosa hut. No other place offers such a dense cluster of impressive 4000 m peaks. Let's use this opportunity to experience something that only few people get to do.
- Day 5
After a leisurely breakfast we take the panoramic trail to the Gornergrat railway, which takes us back down to the valley. There we have the chance to look back on the tour with the summits in view.
