Itinerary

  1. Day 1

We start in the morning at the Silvretta reservoir. Long valleys characterise the approaches to the popular ski touring summits of the Silvretta. The most pleasant of them is the Bieltal, which quickly takes you to the foot of the Haagspitze. With a detour via the Totenfeld and its impressive rock scenery, this 3000er can be climbed on skis almost to the highest point. A long descent to the Jamtal hut rounds off the day.
    Walking time: 5–6 h; 950 m descent, 1000 m ascent

  2. Day 2

The Hintere Jamspitze is one of the few summits in the Silvretta that can be reached on skis right to the top. It is an extremely rewarding objective with an impressive view and moderate difficulty. The tour often also leaves enough time to climb the Ochsenkopf as an additional summit on the way to the Wiesbadener hut.
    Walking time: 7–8 h; 1400 m ascent, 1100 m descent.

  3. Day 3

At 3,312 metres, Piz Buin may only be the third-highest summit in the Silvretta – surpassed by Piz Linard and the Fluchthörner – but it is unrivalled in fame. It owes this not only to the famous sun cream that bears its name, but also to its scenic ascent and its central location, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view. Despite the popularity of the tour, Piz Buin should not be underestimated: the demanding summit section in particular requires alpine experience and technical skill.
    Walking time 6–7 h; 1050 m ascent, 110 m descent.

  4. Day 4

The Silvrettahorn may stand somewhat in the shadow of its prominent neighbours such as Piz Buin or the Dreiländerspitze, but it is still often climbed from the Wiesbadener and Silvretta huts. Less common, but all the more appealing, is extending the tour to the Sattelkopf. This route impresses with a north-facing descent over the small Verhupf glacier, which is one of the highlights of the Silvretta, both scenically and for skiing.
    Walking time: 8–10 h; 1500 m ascent, 2050 m descent.
