Sunset / sunrise
In mid-April you can admire the sunset from the summits and ski down in good light until 10 pm. A later start in suitable weather with warm sunset colours is magnificent in Lyngen.
Weather, snow and avalanche conditions
Conditions are similar to those in the high Alps. With the growing number of ski tourers, the Norwegian avalanche warning service has developed into a reliable source over the years.
Rapid weather changes
Typical – and depending on the situation good or bad – are the often rapid weather changes during a tour. A front with snow showers can move in during the ascent and move out again just as quickly. So you can often ski fresh powder under clear skies and sunshine.
More than just variety
Tours close to the fjords on Lyngen can become truly demanding alpine tours. Some tours here even cross glaciers and of course require full glacier equipment as well as the necessary experience.
